May 25 what happened to lycosSeems i have been away from lycos for to long, its gone to the wall, well i can now be found on facebook. April 27 James NathaneilUploaded photo's of our new addition, James Nathaniel, born today at 8:52am and weighing in at 9lb 4oz April 13 Leeds United vs Carlisle UnitedLeeds United 3 Carlisle United 2
Me and Antz went to watch the match at Elland Rd, Antz's first Leeds match at the hallowed ground. Photo's added May 01 end of storyThanks to all the friends and visitors, but its time for me to leave, this message will remain for 24 hours then this space and associated msn will be deleted. April 20 I went and got a catWell yesterday was spent looking for a cat to keep me company for the times i spend alone, which is most of the week after trawling the net searching the cat rescue places we found one in Marton Blackpool with several possible candidates, Hector, Margaret and Barbara, not your usual cat names, but when your having to rehome upto a 1,000 cats a year, names are hard to come by, and you know how long it takes to pick a suitable name for a kid, The cats were beautiful and as i expected when i got their, we wanted to take them all home, but alas, it could only be one, i've always had a passion for long haired cats, and i do like single colours, grey, black etc and their was one their that met those criteria, but i didn't pick her, i know i'm still in shock myself, April 06 BackOk just a short one, seems i'm better at them, you will probably have noticed a small absence the reason being changing of isp's i don't have much luck with these ppl i was supposed to be connected on the 2nd of feb originally then given several other dates, because they kept sending the wrong engineer out to pull a cable down the st, so i made an official complaint last week and it was done and dusted yesterday so i am back online, now i'm going to see if i can get them to waive the connection fee... doubtful but you never know, another reason for my absence was having major chest surgery again at blackpool victoria, and boy do i have a story about them, but you will have to wait till later to hear it. So its back to business if you have a computer problem you can either use the email link on the top left or leave a comment and make sure your space is public so i can pop by and see what the problem is.Any way thats it for now, off to convert some avi files to dvd format hopefully i've still got the touch once i find the programs again. October 24 talk to me on msn, without messengeri know some people don't have msn installed either because they have to log in at work or publick access points like the library etc. so if you sign up to http://www.live.com/ and creat a nick with any email, or at the same time create an hotmail account, you will be able to talk to me on msn by returning to this page and clicking the little green man icon next to my picture in my profile. however a word of warning i don't suffer fools gladly, and this option should only be used if you need help with your computer or of course your family or friends that can't access windows or msn messenger. If i am online the green man will be lit up, if not it will be greyed out. error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439 update 2Ok its been a while but several personal issues hav kept me from looking at this problem, however i have found a solution that works for me, but in my research into the windows live messenger login issue error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439 suggests their could be several possible resolutions.
As each one involves gets more involved with the system i'll start off with th simplest.
Resolution 1 involves checking and adjusting your system clock, make sure its set correctly, if you have a recurring problem where the clock always seems to be running slow after adjustment, you will need to change the cmos battery, this should be changed every 2 years.
Resolution 2 involves you logging into your router and adjusting your mtu settings, this one was the resolution that worked for me, my mtu was set at 1454 so i lowered it to 1400, this setting is to adjust the size of the packets of information that your computer sends and recieves to servers on the net, if this setting is set close to 1500 try lowering it in increments of 50 though i wouldn't golower than 1300 as this will just fragment the packets of information and slow the connection down as it rebuilds the information being sent and recieved.
Resolution 3 is a little long winded but if the above hasn't solved the problem then you may want to try it, this was a response from microsoft.

October 15 error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439 updateover the last few days i've been using windows vista rc 1 on a dual boot with windows xp sp2, so i haven't used the xp while i've been tinkering with the new OS but last night i decided i needed to download something, so i switched back over to xp and tried to log into windows live messenger, to no avail, couldn't log in same error code i got last week error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439 yet using windows live messenger on vista, i have no problems logging in so in respect of that, and having tried the solution i've offered before, i have come to the conclusion that it must be a piece of software that is causing the conflict on xp so over the next few days i'll have a look at it and see if i can find a more permanat solution as none of the ones available on the web offer any permanant remedies. October 14 updating my life etcWell its been a busy couple of weeks since i picked up my new car on the 4th of October and its been running great, well except for errmm 2 nails i got stuck in the trye, and the grage want £120 ro replace it with another pirelli p7
So far other than the photo upload tool i've been impressed with windows vista, which is a free download from microsoft, though for the 32 bit version its a 2.5gb download, which took 3hours on a 2mb connection, and i had to download it twice, because the first download was corrupt using their download tool. the deskop brings back memories of windows 95 active desktop where you could have active webpages showing, though in vista you get gadgets though windows comes with a selection of you can choose from like a slide sow, where you can select some pictures to view, i found this one to hog the cpu though and slowed the computer down somewhat, i've currently got a calender, a clock local temprature cpu and memory usage gauge and some sticky notes though their are hundreds to choose from and as the release date moves closer i'm sure this list will grow. Its not often i praise microsoft, but in this instance even though i've only been using it a week, Vista is a huge improvement over other versions of windows, though, on occasions it does seem to reset my wireless router and though i've managed to slow the frequency ofit happening its still frustrating that it does but i have still to check the vista forums to see if their is a more permanant remedy for this. I suppose it will give me something to do when things become quiet, which is unlikely at the moment, getting time on my computer since my eldest son moved in is getting less each day, looks like i'm going to have to pull my finger out and build up a couple more computers for my son and daughter then i can get back to doing what i do best, annoy my friends on msn etc.
if you do decide to have a look at windows vista, if you have the means, make your computer a dual boot if you hav a separate HDD that way if you encounter any problems with vista, you still have the means to check out a resolution on the net with your previous operating system. October 08 Windows Live Messenger error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439I've just spent the last 30 mins trying to log into windows live messenger but i kept getting the error error code 80048820 extended error code 80048439, i searched the internet for a resolution to the problem, but none of them resolved it, however the main theme i came across was the fact it was down to a wireless router, so i logged into my router and restarted it, and immediately logged into windows messenger with no problems, so if your experiencing the same problem, try this first before re-registering all the necessary .dll files. October 06 kidsFor those of us who have children in our lives,
whether they are our own, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or students... Whenever your children are out of control,
you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children. After creating heaven and earth,
God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was
"DON'T! " "Don't what ?" Adam replied. "Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said. "Forbidden fruit? We have forbidden fruit? < B> Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit !" " No Way! " "Yes way! " "Do NOT eat the fruit! " said God. "Why?" "Because I am your Father and I said so ! "
God replied,
wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later,
God saw His children having an apple break and He was ticked ! "Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit ? "
God asked. "Uh huh," Adam replied. "Then why did you? " said the Father. "I don't know,"
said Eve. "She started it ! "
Adam said. "Did not ! " "Did too ! " "DID NOT! "
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own. Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.
BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY! If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it,
don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children,
what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you? THINGS TO THINK ABOUT! 1. You spend the first two years of their life
teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up. 2. Grandchildren are God's reward
for not killing your own children. 3. Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young. 4. Children seldom misquote you. In fact,
they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said. 5. The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more awful than your own. 6. We childproofed our homes,
but they are still getting in. ADVICE FOR THE DAY: Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day. AND FINALLY: IF YOU ! HAVE A LOT OF TENSION AND YOU GET A HEADACHE, DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE: "TAKE TWO ASPIRIN" AND "KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN"!!!!! September 27 Don't have muh timeNot alot of news to write about so thats why i've not been updating recently, i've spent most of my time playing Age of Empires 3
Keekee's coming down again tomorrow, for nearly 2 weeks this time, so i may not got round to updating again for a while
I had a major argument with Lisa again, and i ended up sending her back to her mothers, but after the dust has settled, it seems to have sorted itself out and she will be back later in the week, to help keep her bedroom messy of course, and leaving her dishes for me to get my daily exercise and pick them up, but that kids for you
Anyway i'm off to make a cd of cruisin music, but definatley not the bay city rollers mp3's i found on my hard drive September 14 Busy few daysWell i've just had a few busy days looking for a new car, thank god i had the internet back to help me search though saying that, i ended up going for a 55 plate vauxhall vectra at our local main dealers so hopefully if all goes well i'll be back mobile within the next week or so.
So i think i deserve a celebratory glass of whisky, though the last glass of whisky i had didn't agree with me, though again that could have been because i didn't leave enough time after taking my medication
I think i have a parents evening at Lisa's college coming up soon, though why they need one just 2 weeks or so after college starts the term i've no idea, her mum has told her she isn't going again, mr swedish control freak won't let her because i will be their again, its sad that she lets some one control her from another country, and miss out on her childrens education, no doubt when Antz's parents evening comes up, she won't go to that either as i will be going to.
i don't usually waffle on here, but a change is as good as a rest or so they say,but back to normal on the next installment, and i'll see if i can sort out an email link for anyone with technical problems and the such which i may help out with. September 09 ISP Probems.I'm back it seems, ok don't all cheer at once, its been a long few months, 4 to be exact, and the main reason why i went was my new ISP, talktalk, what a bunch of (insert own expletives here) .... (no stronger than that) ..... (ok that might suffice).... I decided to change my ISP in April of this year because my phone company offered free broadband internet, when i signed upto them on the web i was given a connection date of 1st May, so i contacted Supanet who i was with asked for a MAC code, which in theory should lead to a seamless migration from one provider to another, usually within 15 days. BUT, for some reason, unexplained by them they let slide and the migration code expired after 30 days, so again i phoned Supanet up and asked for a 2nd MAC code which they provided, again TalkTalk left their finger in their posteriers (ignore spelling i'm on a roll) and the 2nd Mac Code expired .... again after 30 days, however this time i was offered an explanation they blamed it on BT, they didn't pick up the request in time to be able to complete the transfer to talktalk. Of course by this time i was getting annoyed with talktalk and asked to speak to a manager, it took an hour for one to come on the phone and talk to me about the situation, Vinod, yes talktalk use an indian call centre for their broadband support, (south african call centre for customer support). Vinod, gauranteed me he would look into the problem and escalate it to the 2nd stage for probelm accounts. he then asked me to provide a 3rd MAC code from supanet, so i phoned them immediately and was duely informed by supanet that they could no longer provide me with a MAC code as they are not signed upto ofcom code of conduct, so being a bit of a techie i asked them to remove the ADSL marker from my line, which they agreed to do, i was told a few minutes later that their marker would be removed in 5 days, so i phoned talktalk back and informed them. they agreed to send in another request on the given date ..... they hadn't 14 days after, so i stayed on the phone until they had done it. i was sent a letter saying i would be connected on the 1st of july, which was approximately 30 days away. Though i was getting impatient i sat back and waited and waited and waited, on the 15th july i phoned them again to see what the hold up was. Their response was, can you provide us with another MAC code (feel free to insert as many expletives as you deem necessary.... i did). I said in slow, clear english, i cannot get another mac code, and explained to them in the same clear english why, they said they would send in another request to BT. I hung up the phone and sat back and counted how many different expletives i could come up with, 16 in total
So if anyone out their is experiencing similar problems with any ISP, take things into your own hands phone BT wholesale ( don't be put off if your waiting for an extended period) an hour or so waiting for them is better than waiting for 4 months or more for some idiots in a foreign country asking for a mac code and not being trained to a decent standard to deal with simple problems like sending in a manual request form.
During my time offline, my mother was diagnosed with Lung cancer, luckily it was caught in time, with a month of being diagnosed, she was taken into hospital Blackpool Victoria, and had half her lung removed, after her check up she has been given the all clear, and doesn't need any further treatment.
My daughter LIsa is back in college ..... (insert party atmosphere here) woohoo peace and quiet at last, though she didn't get in the course she wanted, Chef's acadamy, she is doing multi-skills which though doesn't have as much cooking, does offer her experience of working in a hotel, with silver service experience, she will also be going for a weeks work experience in the Royal Ascot hotel, where she was informed famous people stay, including the Queen, Freddy Flintoff (who went to the same high school as her) and she was impressed with the fact she will be paid £60 a day while she is their, teenagers and money, she has already decided to drop out of college if she is offered a job their (insert homer simpson style 'doh' here).
I've decided to go in to hospital and have my other lung operated on though hopefully this time they will be able to do keyhole surgery rather than open the chest up and dig around inside.
Thats about it for now, other than a big thanks to Keekee for keeping me company on my long absense away from the net, Big Hug and don't worry, things will be even better now, and though the next month or so will be hard it will soon pass, and everything will be alright xxxxx
June 09 vayas con diosPeople come into each others lives when they are needed the most,
when they are not needed anymore, they leave.
i don't mind being their for people, but when is the person going to come into my life that will help me pick up the shattered pieces of my heart,
vayas con dios Kristel. May 25 Being lazywell again i've left it a while since i last updated my page, but i have been off colour to say the least and have spent very little time at the computer, in fact, i've been having to take that many pills a day even i've started calling myself the medicine man, and if i thought about dancing, it would be more rattle than shake and roll. though i must be getting better now, i've uploaded and added a couple of new songs that should play if you hang around long enough to listen, and i'm actually trying to sing them as i'm typing, so if my words start to wonder, i guess i'm not quite upto multitasking yet
The new songs added are Colin Raye - If I Were You I'd Fall In Love With Me
I did warn you i may start getting all soppy again April 05 I can't believeI can't believe its been so long since i last put something in here
So take this as fair warning i maybe getting all soppy again
An update on Lisa's hair .... it turned Blue
She wants me to take her to watch iceage 2 on friday, only because Antz is going on saturday with his mum and she doesn't want to be the last to see it .... or to phone him up to tell him what its all about lol.
Well i think thats about it for now, i night just nip round to my nieghbours space and nick a rose from her garden and send it to my new love |
